Q |
How does it work? |
|
A |
Very simple really. Just register yourself with a
user name and an email address. Then create a profile or profiles describing
yourself and what you are looking for -- and that's basically it! You can
browse for matching profiles using any profile that you have created. Similarly
others can browse and find you -- provided there is a match. Then you can
use the figWire© messaging interface to correspond with whom you think you maybe
interested in -- preserving your anonymity at all times. If you find that
the other person, group is what you are looking for, then you can meet or correspond
directly as and when you please!. |
|
Q |
What do I need to create a profile? |
|
A |
A username, a password, an email address and a nickname
is all you need to get registered! The username should be one that has not been used previously in the site. A single registration will enable you to
create any number of profiles. |
|
Q |
Will figwire sell our email addresses or use them for spamming? |
|
A |
No, we do not engage ourselves in unscrupulous activities like selling your email
addresses or spamming. Nor will we divulge them to any third party.
|
|
Q |
What information should I put in a profile? |
|
A |
All information is in the form of selecting values, checking
boxes, clicking buttons or providing specific information like height, etc.
It is in your best interests to be as accurate and comprehensive as possible.
There is nothing there that is required or mandatory. All pieces of information
are optional. |
|
Q |
Can profile information be changed at a later stage? |
|
A |
Yes, all information can be changed at a later stage, except
for the Nickname and Gender. Even if the gender is undisclosed at the time of creation
of the profile, it cannot be changed to Male, Female or Group at a later date. All
other information can be edited as time goes on. However,
different to other sites of this type, a user, with the same login information,
can create any number of profiles. |
|
Q |
How many different profiles can I create? |
|
A |
Technically, there is no limit to the number of profiles
you can create with the same user-name although each profile will need to have a
different nick-name. The same nick-name could have been used by someone else
however. This model attempts to simulate our (albeit surreptitious) real-life
aspirations when we seek, different kinds of relationships simultaneously, e.g.
platonic, long-term, purely sexual, as a group or join a group, etc. etc. |
|
Q. |
Why should I put any information at all? |
|
A. |
If there is no information, there will be no useful search results -- it's as simple as that. Profiles have 2 sections, one describing
you and the other describing what you are seeking. The more information you
supply about yourself, the better chances of finding someone who is looking for
the unique you. The more conditions you put in about what you are looking
for, the more restricted and refined will be your search results. |
|
Q. |
Why don't I see anything when I hit 'Search'? |
|
A. |
If you do not have any profiles, then you cannot search.
Every search needs a Searcher profile and a Searchee profile -- and both must match.
Even if you have a profile or profiles, it is possible that they do not match
to any of the other profiles in the system. Try changing your profiles by
adding more details about yourself and reducing details in the 'what you are looking
for' section. Good Luck! |
|
Q. |
Why does the system allow multiple selections for location? |
|
A. |
It is designed that way so that those who live in multiple
locations, or live and work in different locations can define their situation precisely
in the system. Similarly it enables you to include those people who maybe in your
city only some of the time. This is also useful to those who are interested
in finding a partner from anywhere within a wide geographic area / areas, e.g. state
or province wide. The system enables you to define the 'granularity'
of the location just as you please. For example, in figwire you can select
the city of Calgary, the province of British Columbia and the country of Mexico
in the same selection. We would like to get your valuable feedback
on this
feature. |
|
Q |
Are there different levels of membership? Like Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum or God forbid, Titanium, etc? |
|
A |
No! All users are equally valuable to us and we give everybody our best treatment. Our service is completely free to all users
and we provide our best, privileged service level to all of you equally. |
|
Q |
Are there any rules that bind us after we register? |
|
A |
Yes, as what is stated in the terms and conditions
and to be respectful to the other users. |
|
Q |
Are there any risks involved in contacting others who post their profiles in the
site? |
|
A |
Yes, just as elsewhere in the internet. Although most people are trustworthy,
there maybe a few who are not. Never divulge any personal information or agree
to meet without taking proper care. |
|
Q |
When times are shown on the figWire© website or in messages,
what time zone do they relate to? |
|
A |
Mountain Time i.e. GMT -7.00. |
